There are some new links on the left to make life a little easier; the new website will be launched soon.

While we were away, we got a nice review from, who named us an Editor's Pick. And Time Out New York gave our New York show their little red star which means "recommended or notable" and said: "Washington D.C.'s Bicycle Thieves show promise on their self-released Second Place Confession EP. Lead singer Jon Kaplan writes hooky, melodic songs reminiscent of early Weezer, and the four-piece handles their rawk in a summery, laid-back way." Weezer=good, so we'll take that as a compliment.

We are off writing new material in June. Check out the new tourdates for July and August, which include our returns to Boston and NYC, and a show with Better Than Ezra, Cowboy Mouth, and Antigone Rising at Live on Penn in DC. Starting June 14th, you can buy a season pass to Live on Penn which gets you all 10 shows for $35.00!

Our music was recently featured on "Collegetown USA," a show on the National Lampoon Network which is broadcast to over 600 colleges and over 4.5 million students across the country.

Our songs are now available on iTunes for 99 cents each! If you already have the program, this link should take you to our page. If not, you can download iTunes here. If you don't want to use iTunes, you can also buy our songs at NetMusic or Buymusic.

We are back from our minitour...thanks to everyone who came out to see the shows...we will be back soon.

Today, we'll be heading out on our minitour of the East Coast. Stops include Philly, Boston, and New York, followed by Pittsburgh, which Jon will hit with two solo acoustic dates. If you live in any of these cities, please come out and say hi and if you don't, please spread the word to your friends.

We are the Top Pick on The Washington Post MP3 site this week! And now, you can download an MP3 of the song Monuments for free.

Happy Holidays everyone! There are two acoustic shows this weekend. Jon and Mark will be at XM Radio's Acoustic Stage at the Washington Auto Show this Friday, 12/26, and at Jammin' Java this Sunday, 12/28. Also, a new review of our CD:

Mark Jenkins of The Washington Post says:
"The Thieves possess something that many of their stylistic peers lack: songs. Jon Kaplan, the band's singer-composer, knows how to pin a phrase to a shiny hook and sling it skyward...Kaplan's songcraft is no small attraction"

With a new EP released in July 2003, entitled The Second Place Confession, Bicycle Thieves have already started to get radio play on DC101 and were recently chosen to play two sets (one acoustic, one electric) at the HFStival, the legendary annual concert at RFK Stadium, sponsored by one of the biggest Alternative rock stations in the country, WHFS. The Washington Post has praised the band's "smart, rocking pop songs" and the band has been garnering more awards and coveted performance slots in the DC area every year. Recent highlights include an upcoming slot at the Fort Reno concert series, which helped launched the careers of bands like Fugazi and Dismemberment Plan, and a grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities towards completion of the band's new EP. Lead singer Jon Kaplan has won the Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies) for Best Alternative Rock vocalist two years in a row and the band was awarded Best Alternative Rock Duo/Group in 2002; they've also been nominated for six Wammies this year. Finally, the band has had music licensed to MTV's "The Real World".
